The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and 6 more – By Roald Dahl – This book has several short stories in it. The Boy who talked with Animals is about a young boy who is very upset when some fishermen bring in a turtle they caught for the hotel dinner that night. He pitches a fit until his father buys the turtle. The boy is missing the next morning. The Hitchhiker is about a rich gentlemen who picks a hitchhike up on the side of the road. The Hitchhiker convinces the gentlemen to drive his car at top speed only to be stopped by the police and given a ticket for speeding. The Mildenhall Treasure is about a farmer who goes out to plow a friend’s field and comes across some tarnished plates. He goes to get his friend who does not tell him the plates are valuable. The friend hides the plates at his house while he is cleaning them up. Eventually he has to turn them over to the government. The Swan is a story about two bullies who pick on this one kid. The bullies kill a swan and cut its wings off and tie them to the other boy and try to make him jump out of a tree and fly. The Wonderful story of Henry Sugar is about a rich man who learns to see without his eyes. He uses this gift to win millions on dollars gambling. He uses the money won from the gambling to build orphanages. Lucky Break is a story about how this gentlemen got a lucky break with a certain story he wrote. He is now a famous author. A Piece of Cake is a story about fighting the Germans and how easy it was suppose to be, like a piece of cake.

The Enormous Crocodile – By Roald Dahl – This was a quick little read. It is about the big crocodile who is going to the nearby town to eat a child. He tells all the animals in the forest what he is going to do as he walks past them. Once he is in the town the different animals come to warn the children of what trick the crocodile is trying to play.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – By Roald Dahl – This book is about a young boy Charlie. Willie Wonka decides he is going to have a contest and allow 5 lucky winners to enter his factory. The winners are all bratty children except Charlie. The children get to bring one visitor with them to the factory. Charlie choose to bring his Grandpa Joe. All ten lucky guest are taken on a tour of the factory where most of the children get into trouble. Charlie wins the grand prize of owning the factory at the end.

James and the Giant Peach – 39

James and the Giant Peach – By Roald Dahl – This is a great little book. It is about a young boy that loses his parents and has to go live with his two ugly aunts a the top of a hill. He is given some magic beans, but he spills them all over the ground. The beans make this peach grow huge. The aunts decide to sell tickets or people to come and look a the huge peach. James has to go outside and pick up all the trash. he finds a few beans that got away and chases after them and finds a secret door into the peach.. The peach has become home to many insects that ate the magic beans. James and the insects decide to go on an adventure in the peach. It rolls down the hill and all through the countryside until it lands in the ocean. James and the insects have a regular ole holiday away from the aunts and on their journey to far away places.

Danny the Champion of the World – By Roald Dahl – This is a cute little book. It is about a young boy Danny, who lives with his father the mechanic. His father tells about poaching pheasants. Danny has a great idea of how to get many at one time. It has references to the BFG and The Witches in it.

Fantastic Mr. Fox – By Roald Dahl – I got interested in this book when I saw the trailer for it. I love Roald Dahl. He has a special way of drawing readers into his fun loving comical books. This book is really about a show down between three farmers and one sneaky fox. The farmers are all out to kill the fox that always steals from them. Mr. Fox gets his family to help him dig a tunnel that helps to save all the digging animals.

The Witches – By Dahl – Book was great. Movie is a little scary.- This book is about how to identify witches. A young boy gets trapped in a room full of witches, but he escapes. The witches turn him into a mouse. He helps his grandmother poison the soup the witches are going to eat and kills them all.
