The Borrowers – 1

Monday, May 30th, 2011

The Borrowers – By Mary Norton – This book is a lot like the Littles cartoon I remember watching as a child in the early 80s. The story starts with an older lady telling a small girl a story she heard from her brother. The borrower family lives under the kitchen in a house with humans. The dad goes out into the house and borrows things. The old lady that lives in the house is bedridden, so the dad is a little more adventurous with his borrowing. He is seen one day by a young boy who has come to stay with his aunt in the country. The boy makes friends with the young girl borrower. The live in maid discovers the boy and his secret and calls the exterminator. It leaves you hanging which is why I bought the whole series. Will post next book when I finish.
