Have You Seen My Duckling? – By Nancy Tafuri – This was a great book to let the students make their own story with. It has a beginning and an end, but the rest is up to the students’ imaginations.

Owl Moon – By Jane Yolen – This is a great book. The author really makes you feel the cold even if you are warm inside. The young boy is going owling with his Pa. The only thing is that he must be absolutely quiet. When Pa first makes the owl noise nothing happens. After a few minutes of walking on Pa tries again. This time an owl answers back, and the boy gets to hear and see the owl.

Chester and the Big Bad Bully – By Audrey Penn – This is another lesson learned by Chester from “A Pocket full of Kisses.” Chester and his friends learn how to deal with a bully. Just like your momma always tells you, Chester’s momma tells him to be extremely kind to the bully.

Miss Nelson is Missing – By Harry Allard – This book is about a bad class who gets a bad teacher. Miss Nelson takes a leave of absences, and Viola Swamp comes to be the substitute. The class soon realizes that they need to start behaving. It takes some time before the children start to miss Miss Nelson. They are all well behaved when Miss Nelson comes back to work.
