Stellaluna – By Janell Cannon – This book is about a young bat who is separated from his mother. He goes to live with some birds. These birds convince him to sleep during the day not the night. They also get him to sleep standing up and not hanging upside down. One evening when they are flying the young bat gets lost. He goes to sleep and is awaken by other birds that look like him. As he talks with them he learns his mother did not die and wants him back. He is so excited that he goes back to his bird family and wants them to come meet his mother. The young bat learns that although he is similar to his bird friends. He is more like the bats. He learns it is okay to be different from your friends.

The boy didn’t listen to the person and plays with his jar of water that makes rain, and his stick that causes thunder. He finally goes too far and pushes the person to kick him back to the earth. He runs back home to his family.

Each time he finds the item he is looking for that person sends him to find another item. When finds all the items he is rewarded by all the people. He gets a nice horse and a wife.
