Wringer – 13

Wringer – By Jerry Spinelli – A new boy, Palmer, makes some friends in his new neighborhood. They all want to turn 10, so they can be wringers. Wringers are boys who wring the necks of the pigeons who aren’t shot at the town’s Pigeon Day. He makes one pigeon his pet. He tells his friend Dorothy about his pet pigeon. Palmer admits to his friends that he likes pigeons, and he isn’t going to wring their necks.

I didn’t like that book because it pretty much showed the evils of bird killing. The boy did so much to save that pigeon that it really inspired me. Other than that I really didn’t like it.

  5. Good info. Lucky me I recently found your blog by chance (stumbleupon).
    I’ve book-marked it for later!
