The Tower Treasure – By Franklin W. Dixon – I decided to read a few of the Hardy Boy Series as well. They are just like Nancy Drew, but they are for boys. This one is about a gentleman being robbed of his jewels and bonds. The Hardy Boys work with their dad to try and recover the stolen items. They solve the stolen items mystery and find out who has been stealing cars as well. Great book.

The Mystery at Lilac Inn by Carolyn Keene- This is another great quick read. Nancy once again starts her adventure on a boat and run into trouble. She is going to the Lilac Inn because her friend and her fiance are fixing up the inn. There are strange things going on at Lilac Inn, and someone is impersonating Nancy Drew. Nancy solves both mysteries in the knick of time

Lightning Thief – By Rick Riordan – I just found the trailer for the movie. I am so excited.

I read this series because one of my students thought it was great fun to be reading something I had never read. I did enjoy them. Warning though to parents they revolve around Greek gods I did not like that part, but I just told myself that is was fun for the brain.

The Hidden Staircase – By Carolyn Keene – Great book. I am really liking this Nancy Drew series. Nancy is called by her friend Helen to come and help her and her aunts find who or what is causing all the scary things going on at their house. Before Nancy can leave for her friend’s aunt’s house, she is met at the door by a gentleman warning her to watch out for her father because he was in danger. Nancy’s father says that it is just someone who is trying to stir up trouble with some clients and the railroad company. Nancy and Helen are on their way and arrive safely and scary things start happening. Nancy and Helen discover some hidden secrets about this old house and rescue her dad and uncovers who is causing all the scary things to happen at the house.

Summer’s End – By Audrey Couloumbis – Grace has to cancel her birthday party because her brother, Colin, burned his draft card. Her dad is very upset Colin did this because Colin doesn’t want to go fight in the war. Colin goes to Canada to avoid his summons from the army. Grace flees to her grandmother’s house down the road. Grace and her two cousins, Dollie and Theo, are all confused about the changes taking place within the family because of the war.

The Secret of the Old Clock – By Carolyn Keene – Great book. I just had to finish it. Nancy Drew is caught out in a storm in her convertible car. She turns into an old barn. She meets two sisters that let her come in and dry out. This leads her to meet more of the sisters distant relatives. Their Uncle Josiah Crowley has passed away, and he promised several relatives that he would remember them in his will. Nancy is trapped by some thieves when she is so close to finding the old clock that will change everyone’s lives.

Lily”s Crossing – By Patricia Reilly Giff – A young girl, Lily, is going with her grandmother to Rockaway. Her father must go away to work as an engineer during WWII. Her next door neighbor and friend, Margaret, also has to move away because of the war. Lily makes a new friend in Albert. She is going to teach him how to swim. The war ends and almost everyone returns home.
