Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business By Barbara Parks – I am not a Junie B. Jones fan. I do not like her language. Everything is dumb and stupid and those are words that I would rather my students not use. Anyways Junie B. Jones has been an only child up until this point. Her parents surprise her by telling her mommy is going to have a baby. Junie B. is not to excited about this baby because it gets new furniture and nice wallpaper. Junie B. goes to stay with her grandfather while her parents and grandmother go the hospital. Before Junie goes to school the grandmother comes home and tells her that he is the cutest little monkey she has ever seen. Well Junie B. goes to school and tells her classmates this and gets in trouble.

The Ninth Nugget – 71

The Ninth Nugget – By Ron Roy – Josh, Dink, and Ruth Rose are spending a week at a ranch. Ma and Pa Wheat run the place with their son Jud. Thumbs is there to help with the horses and other animals. There are a few other visitors that week. All the guest go panning for gold. Josh is the last, ninth, person to find a gold nugget. It is huge about the size of a potato. They take it back to the ranch and put it in the safe. Later Lulu, the cook, is found gagged and tied to a chair with the safe open. Two other guest that had stayed back from the horse ride were also found gagged and one tied and the other handcuffed. Josh and his friends have to figure out who stole the nugget without getting caught or making anyone made. It all turns out fine in the end.

Go Dogs Go – By Dr. Seuss – This is a cute book about all things that go. These dogs are going all over the place in all different kinds of vehicles. They all end up at a dog party in a tree.

The Lorax – By Dr. Seuss – This is a great book to help young children understand about taking care of the environment. They are going to cut down just one tree, but they end up cutting down the entire forest. The Lorax tries to warn them, but they do not listen.

Green Eggs and Ham – By Dr. Seuss – One person is trying to get the other to try green eggs and ham in and with many different things. It takes the entire book before the person tries the green eggs and ham. To their amazement they actually like green eggs and ham.

Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose – 67

Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose – By Dr. Seuss – This book is about a moose who is just too nice. A bug asks if he can make a home in his horns. Thidwick decides to be nice and let him. The bug lets a spider and other insects and animals come live in the moose’s horns. The other moose do not want to be around Thidwick anymore because of all the things living in his horns. Later Thidwick wants to go across the lake to eat some moose moss, but the guest out vote him. He stays on, but hunters come to shoot the deer. Thidwick remembers that his horns come off every winter, so the new ones will grow. Soon Thidwick is eating moose moss with his friends, while all his horn guest are all on a wall.

The Cat in the Hat Comes Back – By Dr. Seuss – Sally and her brother are out shoveling snow, and the cat in the hat shows up again. The boy is not happy to see the cat because of all the tricks he played last time he came over. This time he starts the mess with the spots on the tub. He tries to get rid of them only to put them on something else. Once the spots are outside on the snow the cat has to have the help of the little cats in his hat to rid them of the spots.

Are You My Mother – 65

Are You My Mother – By Dr. Seuss – This is a cute book about a baby bird trying to find his mother. He asks several other animals if they are his mother, only to find out that they are not. This snort machine scooped the baby bird up and delivered him back to his nest. He is very lonely, but he sees a bigger bird that looks like him. That bird is his mother.
